Advancing Pretrial Policy Research (APPR) Virtual Training #3: Pretrial Supervision and Supportive Services
Thank you again for being a part of our 3rd virtual training series hosted by Advancing Pretrial Policy Research (APPR). The training reviewed evidence-based and practical ways that pretrial services could promote individuals’ success before trial. The methods discussed honored the presumption of innocence, the requirement of “least restrictive means,” and the principle of human dignity. By doing so, the focus of supervision shifted from managing failure to promoting success. Faculty covered the research on pretrial strategies in detail, including court notification, supervision, and electronic monitoring. Participants also gained insights into evidence-based, practical ways to support individuals through need-based services, determine the frequency and intensity of contacts, and effectively respond to both compliant and noncompliant behavior. Thank you for joining us, and we look forward to seeing you at our next training!
