Court Services Officer I – Court Administration

Position Summary
Major Functions
The County of Volusia is seeking AÂ Court Services Officer I.
This position will rotate through three departments under the Court Services umbrella:
Pretrial Supervision:Â Responsible for the supervision of defendants released to them. Primary responsibilities include assuring defendants understand court ordered conditions of release, monitoring compliance of court ordered conditions, and providing case related data to the Judiciary. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining electronic case files, observing urine collections, conducting field visits, monitoring GPS cases, and testifying in court.
Pretrial Assessment:Â Responsible for interviewing defendants, researching criminal histories and preparing corresponding paperwork to be considered by the Judiciary for potential release at First Appearances.Â
Urinalysis Lab: Responsible for the observation and collection of specimens, transporting and preparing them for testing in the agency analyzer, entering results in the computer, preparing analysis reports and testifying in court when required.Â
Employee will need to be available for weekends as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Science, Legal Studies or related field. A Â comparable amount of education, training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
The preferred candidate;Â having met the minimum requirements, will have at least one (1) year of experience in the criminal justice field and three (3) years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
